Greek Nasdaq-listed owner OceanPal has confirmed its exit from the capesize bulker segment with the sale of the 2005-built Salt Lake City.
The 171,800 dwt ship, one of the three older bulkers Diana Shipping spun off into OceanPal when the company was established in 2021, has fetched $16.1m from undisclosed buyers. Multiple shipbroking outfits recently placed Chinese interests behind the purchase.
The vessel should change hands by February 20, marking OceanPal’s divestment of its last cape. Last year, the 2005-built, 177,243 dwt Baltimore was sold to China’s YKJ Shipping for about $18.25m.
Once the latest deal is closed, the Semiramis Paliou-backed outfit will have three panamax bulkers and an MR2 tanker in its fleet.
