UAE’s NMDC Energy has won an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract worth over $1.1bn for a 111 km subsea gas pipeline offshore Taiwan.

The Taiwan Power Company awarded the contract to NMDC for the second stage of the Tung-Hsiao renewable power plant.

The project involves designing, constructing, and installing a linear subsea pipeline at depths ranging from 10 to 55 m between Taichung and Tung-Hsiao on Taiwan’s west coast.

The contract also involves shore approach works and dredging operations volume of around 6m cu m which will be conducted by NMDC Dredging & Marine.

NMDC Energy stated that it was keen to strengthen its presence in Taiwan, which it sees as a strategic market with significant potential, and where it is already progressing with renewable energy initiatives.

“Our work in Taiwan is not merely about infrastructure. It represents a commitment to creating sustainable pathways for energy resilience in a region of strategic importance,” said Yasser Zaghloul, CEO of NMDC Group.

The company is currently experiencing a global expansion following its rebranding from the National Petroleum Construction Company. In September last year, NMDC Energy was listed on the Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange, following the launch of its IPO which was oversubscribed 31.3 times, generating around $880m for the company.
