John Xylas elected INTERCARGO chairman

Bulker owners’ association INTERCARGO has elected John Xylas as its new chairman.

The president and chief executive of Ariston Navigation and the treasurer of the Union of Greek Shipowners will take over from fellow Greek shipowner Dimitrios Fafalios who will hand over the baton on January 1 after six years as the association’s chair.

Uttam Kumar Jaiswal of Hong Kong-based dry bulk shipping giant Pacific Basin will remain vice-chairman of the board and Metaxia Psalti, of Neda Maritime Agency, will take over from Spyros Tarasis as vice chair of the management committee.

The election took place during INTERCARGO’s annual general meeting held in London last week. Fafalios was also named honorary president of the association established in 1980.
