The port of Lyon, along the river Rhône, is set for transformation as CMA CGM has been awarded a 30-year concession to operate two container terminals.

Marseille-headquartered CMA CGM will invest €40m ($42m) to connect Lyon to Fos-sur-Mer on the Mediterranean, aiming to double the volumes of freight arriving by container on the Rhône by 2032.

Cash-rich CMA CGM has been busy bolstering its ports division this year. The company’s chairman, Rodolphe Saade, was in Abu Dhabi last week for the opening of a new container terminal.
