John Fredriksen-backed Paratus Energy Services has received a suspension notice for one of its jackup rigs working for Pemex offshore Mexico.
The Oslo-listed Paratus said that the jackup Courageous would temporarily cease operations for 45 days due to delays in the client’s preparatory activities at its next location.
The 2007-built rig, which has been on contract with Pemex since 2020 and is fixed through to November 2026, will wrap up operations and go on standby at its location in early December.
The company, formerly Seadrill New Finance, owns five jackup rigs working for Pemex via Fontis, previously known as SeaMex.
Paratus estimates the EBITDA impact of the deferral to be approximately $3m.
The suspension comes amid market reports regarding a potential temporary reduction in rig activity in Mexico. Still, Paratus noted that any deferred days for its rigs, which would see no revenue generated during such a period, would extend the contract duration accordingly.
